Investment Philosophy

Stay away from Trouble! As simple as that sounds, this is my advice to generate successful and consistent investments returns. Speculative investing can be exciting but almost always ends in tears. I prefer to take a more balanced approach where the investment strategies are intelligent, rational and forward-looking.

Meet Trouble

Trouble and me spar everyday so you don't have to. Trouble can be disguised as currency risk, inflation, deflation, corruption, interest rates, irrationality, political risk or speculation. When investing, I always look for signs of trouble and, when I find it, I assess the degree to which it could affect the investment outcome. The trouble with trouble is that although you need to get defensive, hiding completely would mean losing opportunity that is usually following closely behind.

The Allies

Every single day, we are inundated with opinions, projections and conjecture on the topic of investing. One minute somebody says "buy" and the next minute a different person says "sell". Both are deemed experts. It's enough to make your head spin before your first cup of coffee in the morning. Over the course of my career as an investment advisor, I have filtered through the sea of analysts and economists in my industry and I have found my favorite allies who offer quality research with great insight. They stay consistent in their approach and offer thoughtful, intelligent and timely reports that help me locate trouble and even see where trouble might land next.

In Summary

Acceptable investment returns don't have to come with higher and higher degrees of risk and complexity. I advise my clients to take a reasonable approach to investing, where we seek steady growth, consistent returns and avoid high risk strategies.

Invest with the strength of simplicity and your portfolio should be well positioned for success.
