My grandmother once told me that had the French won the war on the Plains of Abraham, I'd probably be living in the Chateaux Frontenac and that we'd all be sipping expensive French wine and cavorting with other royalty types around the world (speaking French of course). She said we were related to the Marquis de Montcalm. It was a nice story even if it wasn't true. It was Grandma's way of saying we're not rich, but we were so close! I liked the story because it allowed me, as a child, to imagine a prosperous future filled with endless possibilities. It also awakened my natural curiosity about how to build wealth.
